Consensus (Ijma) is the third basic source of Islamic Jurisprudence. It is also considered a valid source in Jafri Jurisprudence. The concept of Consensus (Ijma) in Jafri Jurisprudence is different from the concept of other jurisprudential systems of Islamic tradition like Hanfi Jurisprudence, Hanbli Jurisprudence etc. In Jafri Jurisprudence there are two basic kinds of Consensus, each consist of two sub kinds. Although the discussion about Consensus (Ijma) is a serious topic in the books of Jafri Jurisprudence, the prominent Jafri scholars are of the view that Consensus is not a valid source of jurisprudence. This article is a brief study about authority of Consensus in Jafri school of thought. It will be a gateway for the researchers of Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh).
